Sports Day
Thursday 18th July, the sun shone and children from FS2 to Y6 took part in events for Sports Day.They were joined by a great crowd of family and friends who created a fantastic atmosphere, cheering them all on. Some were even persuaded to join in with the younger children!
Author in School
Children from Y5 enjoyed a visit from a real live author, last week. Sita Brahmachari, winner of the Waterstones' Children's Book Prize for her first book, Artichoke Hearts, was in school to talk to the children about her latest book, Where the River Runs Gold. The children all received a signed copy. Children throughout school also received a free book, courtesy of BookTrust, the U.K.'s largest children's reading charity. There were smiling faces all round.
STEM Lego and Papier Mâché in Y3
Y3 have held two parent/carer invite days recently. Families enjoyed working with Lego and I.T. to create working models that they could programme. The papier mâché spheres that were created, will be turned into globes representing the Earth. Each continent will be marked with an indiginous plant of the region.
Sporting Activities in School
It has been a busy time for children in both Key Stages as they took part in a variety of events and activities. Children in Y1 took part in cricket coaching and orienteering in the school grounds, whilst children from Y2 were winners in the skipping competition. A group from KS2 competed in the Brownlee Triathalon, held at the John Smeaton Leisure Centre. Both KS1 and KS2 represented school at the Bramley Olympics, an annual inter school event at the John Charles Centre.
