Managing Coronavirus in Schools - Risk Assessment June 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Week beginning 29.06.20

It is hard to believe there is just three weeks left to this academic year - and we are in to week 15 of lockdown and life as we currently know it. June now seems to be the month of April's delayed showers so let us hope this week with the arrival of July that better weather is on the horizon. We have now reached capacity in school in terms of space and staffing having done our best to return children in Years 6, 1 and Reception alongside key worker and vulnerable children. We are hopng that all health, safety and well-being factors alongside staffing availability and space run smooothly for the next three weeks.

As we approach the end of term we will be sending out information to support children's transition to their next year group and we hope you find this helpful. Staff will continue to make contact calls up to the end of term and discussions can also focus on transition to address any questions and/or concerns you may have. We will also be sending out children's end of year summary reports as per one of the letters previously sent to parents and carers.

Hoping you have the best week possible.

Thank you for your continued support.

Karon Wittmann and the Summerfield Team

Please check out your child's year group tab on our website for learning ideas, activities etc. We will keep adding to these over time. Staff, when in school, will also be telephoning parents/carers to have a catch up chat with children. This may take a number of attempts and will also be over time depending on when staff are in school and parent/carer availability.

Well-being on the Web

Here are some websites where parents/carers can get advice if they are concerned about their child:

www.youngminds.org.uk  – Young Minds are the leading children’s mental health charity. This website is useful for children (mainly the older children) but there is a designated section for parents and carers. You can also speak with a professional on here for further advice.

www.familylives.org.uk  – On here you can find advice about a range of different things connected with family life, school, mental health and wellbeing.

www.mind.org.uk – Leading mental health charity where you can access information and advice from professionals.

www.mentalhealth.org.uk – Another one of the top mental health charities – here is a link for the parent/carer guide to supporting their child’s mental health. Specifically for COVID-19: GOV.UK released this document for parents/carers to support their children through the current crisis. They released a partner document directly to use with children which is useful.

Please follow this link if you or someone you know is experiencing Domestic Abuse during this period of self isolating and social distancing.
